My client a global EPC contractor are currently recruiting for a Claims Manager to manage and respond to construction contractor and vendor/supplier delay claims and to support any delay claims that may be forced upon the company.
This position is NOT a Contract Administration position. This position is solely responsible for responding to and managing claims not the day to day administration of the contract or vendor supply agreement.
Responding to EPC Contractor and Vendor/Supplier change order requests, delay claims and other critical contractual correspondence.
Perform a proper analysis of each and every change order/delay claim in order to withstand any project audit that may be performed in the future.
The effort to respond to each contractor and/or vendor/suppler change order/delay claim includes but is not limited to the following:
Create a separate file for each Contractor claim
Research the contract for a defines or justification for the claim/change order
Complete internal analysis and contract position to discuss with the client.
Respond to the contractor requesting additional backup data or documentation to support the contractors claim/change order
Interface with other EPCM departments during the process to ensure all parties are aligned. Management of the response to contractor claims is the key to maintaining a strong contractual position.
In the case of schedule delay claims we must provide a detailed schedule analysis to support the days claimed by the contractor. This will require close coordination between scheduling, contracts and Contract Claim Manager
In the case of change order requests involving cost impact we must provide a detailed cost analysis to support or refute the claimed costs by the contractor. This will require close coordination between estimating, contracts and Contract Claim Manager
Attend meetings with the Construction Contractors and Vendor/Suppliers to discuss specific change orders/delays claims.
Candidate Requirements:
University or college degree from a Western University or College in Business Administration, Contract Management or Engineering.
Experience in a similar role under similar operating conditions.
Must have significant experience in responding to and refuting claims.
A complete understanding of typical international construction contract terms and conditions and vendor supply agreements is required.
Middle East Experience preferred
Experience being involved with multi-cultural teams working under a fast-track construction schedule
Experience in Multi-Billion dollar infrastructure and power projects
15 years’ experience as a Contract Manager on similar projects
Experience in the full range of contract claims management
Working knowledge in basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
A demonstrable track record of leadership.
