Conaultant Radiation Oncologist, New Zealand

Pulse International is looking for a Consultant Radiation Oncologist for a 350-bed teaching hospital in the South Island of New Zealand.

Job description:

The hospital is closely associated with the University of Otago and its school of medicine and is a Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Surgeons Integrated Training Programme site.

The successful candidate will join an Oncology and Haematology team consisting of four Medical Oncologists, three Radiation Oncologists and three Haematologists.

The Radiation Oncology Service provides a tertiary level Radiotherapy Service to approximately 300,000 residents of the Otago and Southland region of New Zealand and is the national provider for SRS and SRT and a leading cancer treatment centre in the New Zealand Public Health system.

The department has excellent facilities with:
· Three linear accelerators,
· A Varian 21EX, Varian 21iX (both with OBI, the latter with CBCT) and a 600C, due for replacement 2011. Both the iX and EX units will be operating Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy by April 2011.
· A Pantak ortho-voltage unit,
· A Radionics stereotactic system,
· And an Impac patient management system.

Treatment simulation is performed with a Philips Accolade 16-slice CT scanner with broadband access to CMS Focal. CMS XiO provides treatment planning for 3D conformal and IMRT.

Candidates should be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
