Fluid Mechanics Lead Engineer job in UK

The Fluid Mechanics Department is an established team that provides world class engineering analysis, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to a range of clients across the Oil &Gas, Power, Nuclear, Aerospace and Building Design industries, but with a main focus on Energy. Project Engineers will initially support and lead projects in the Fluid Mechanics team in the UK and support and training to the more junior staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

They are involved in some of the most exciting and varied projects in the Oil and Gas sector, including support to fixed assets, FPSOs and FLNG facilities (fixed and floating offshore structures, terminals, refineries, petrochemical plants and pipelines).

Experience / Responsibilities:
A good engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in civil, mechanical, structural or similar.
Generation of complex CFD models.
Analysis of a wide range of flow and heat transfer problems, using CFD tools, spreadsheet calculations and/or field testing.
Generation of detailed, narrative, technical reports.
Taking lead engineer level responsibility for carrying out work to timescales and budget.
Overseeing/supervising graduate members of staff on projects.
Providing technical training support to graduate members.
Assisting in the development of bids and quotations.
Taking on project manager responsibilities for small projects.
Taking a more active role in managing clients on projects.
Assisting with the growth of the global Fluid Mechanics business
Excellent grounding in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
Good problem solving skills.
An ability to undertake complex computational analysis, including CFD.
A good knowledge of Oil &Gas consequence modelling for the Oil & Gas industry
Be a good communicator on technical matters, able to advise clients constructively and practically.
Have good presentation skills.
Be able to write concise, accurate, technical reports.
Be able to take the initiative in developing ideas with clients and opportunities for continuing working relationships.
