Head of European Operations

The Group currently has international activities in the UK, Portugal, Netherlands and France and in-house collections operations in the UK and Portugal. As part of its strategy to move from an outsourced collections model to a hybrid model encompassing in-house collections, the Group has recently acquired collections platforms in the UK and Portugal.

The Group has a strategic aim of increasing its international exposure to 50% of its assets and in-house collections to 40% of total collections, resulting in the requirement to recruit an experienced leader for its European operations.

Job description:

Operations management and strategy

Oversee the management of international collections operations, including in-house servicing platforms and external DCA relationships
Play a role in driving the optimal operational strategy for collections operations in each jurisdiction based on current owned assets and forecast portfolio purchasing activity

Stakeholder management:
Effective management of relationships with external DCAs and head of internal collections operations in each country

Implementing best practice and operational improvements:
Implement Group policies and practices across international operations to ensure best in class customer treatment, strong client audit results, collections performance to target and the delivery of servicing cost efficiencies
Ensure governance, compliance and operational rigour throughout European operations to protect the interests of the Group
Participation in the assessment of potential operational improvements to in-house operations including IT system capabilities, collections workflows, capability extensions and office and headcount expansion
Participate in the integration of servicing platforms in single jurisdictions and extraction of potential cost synergies

Portfolio onboarding planning and execution:
Assist with the determination of collections strategy pre-purchase of new portfolios including collections capacity planning
Oversee the successful onboarding of new portfolio purchases and the migration of existing Arrow Global portfolios from external DCAs to in-house collections platforms

Geographical expansion:
Assist in the execution of the operational strategy for expansion into new geographical markets, including the appraisal of prospective external DCA partners, and the merits of prospective DCA acquisition targets from an operational standpoint

Reporting:
Report to the Group Chief Operating Officer on operational performance and key developments
Assist with the improvement of operational reporting from international operations

The Successful Applicant:
Proven track record of managing international operations in either financial services or BPO sectors
Experience of overseeing multiple operations
A natural inclination to question and continuously improve operations
Commercial acumen with high levels of attention to detail
Culturally sensitive and capable of developing strong relationships with colleagues and partners of different nationalities
Ability to embed Group vision, values and practices across multi-site operations

High levels of energy, ambition and enthusiasm
Highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humour
Team player with the ability to collaborate, influence and share best practice
Whilst it is expected that the majority of interactions will be made in English, language skills will be advantageous
