Job Description:
Due to growth, The Co-operative group is growing it's in house capabilities and looking to appoint two Quantity Surveyors/Cost Managers. The QS/Cost manager will be a key member of the QS and Costs team as they will help drive value from the £300m of annual Capex programmes.
As a QS/Cost Manager you will be leading on cost management to ensure control, accuracy, visibility and value is driven into capital spend programmes & projects, and contributing to capital control, budget preparation and investment forecasting. Stakeholder management will also form an important part of the role as you co-ordinate governance meetings, and manage the QS support network.
Other key functions and attributes to bring to this will include:
People management is a major part of the role.
Directly responsible for budgets in excess of £100m, annual savings activity in excess of £5m.
Full day to day management of QS network and functional support service.
Providing exceptional standards ensuring you exceed the national standards of cost savings and service level benchmark by applying performance management.
Manage capex budgets annually, ensure projects are delivered within budget costs and in line with calculated objectives.
Consistently report forecasting of capital spend precisely to ensure the capital delivery programmes maximise spend.
Ensure the group recovers any overspend and make recommendations for improvement for future projects.
Communicate with the delivery team to guide improvement of cost measurements. Develop and apply commercial governance and cost control methods across all areas of capital delivery.
The Successful Applicant:
To be considered for the role of QS/Cost manager you will encompass the following skills and attributes:
A degree in the relevant subject area.
MRICS qualified or equivalent experience in retail.
Ability to influence and build relationships with key senior stakeholders
Ability to prepare capital budgets.
Results focused and self motivated
Experience to range of commercial contracts.
People management skills.
Have good experience of managing people and teams.
