Phoenix Distribution is a leading Pharmaceutical wholesale business operating in the UK. As part of the PHOENIX Group they benefit from being part of one of the top five pharmaceutical wholesalers in the world. Their UK infrastructure consists of 14 distribution centres along with a customer contact centre. From these they provide services for over 500 retail community pharmacies.

Job description:

As Managing Director the successful applicant will be fully responsible for the UK Wholesale organisation. Reporting into the UK CEO and the Group Board the individual will develop and lead a strategy that will deliver profitable growth for the wholesale business in the UK. This will include, but not be limited to:

Creating and delivering the strategic plan for the business in line with the longer term objectives of the group
Establish a leadership team to create a sustainable environment and succession plan in which the strategic objectives can be met in the future
Develop the infrastructure to achieve exceptional service levels while maintaining a competitive cost base
Working with Board colleagues both in the UK and Europe to ensure wider Group objectives are achieved
Working with the commercial team to develop customer led value added services
Managing key customer relationships as the figurehead of the organisation

The Successful Applicant:
The successful candidate will have experience in driving sustainable profitable growth within a regulated, multi-site organisation. They will have worked within complex organisational structures and have been successful in driving change. Ideally candidates will have experience of the following:

A background of a board / senior leadership role within an organisation that is part of the pharmaceutical or a highly regulated supply chain
Experience of leading teams & P&L's across multiple operating sites
Success and experience in devising and implementing broad strategic change
Evidence of leading a business or function to deliver improvements in customer service and cost performance
The ability to communicate effectively to engender cohesion across multiple sites.
