What does your heart beat for? Developing new, or administrating on OS level all day long – or is it more the technology that brings both these worlds together? For the department Web Application Operation, part of Vattenfall IT, we are now looking for a talented and ambitious:

Your tasks and responsibilities:

As a Web application engineer you are highly familiar with Apache Tomcats, Reverse Proxies, and Web Security, mod-Security or other WAF solutions. Your key activities will be:

Administrate and operate web applications including planning, installation, upgrade and decommissioning
Administrate and operate web infrastructure
Support in areas of web security (configuration, concept, incident, penetration test, WAF, etc.)
Coordinate incident recovery, planning and implementation of changes and deployments, evaluate problems, optimize and tune system landscapes
Perform Technical 2nd / 3rd Level support
Support international projects, improvement and automation of operational routines
Support your colleagues to maintain web or J2EE-related other applications
Participate in oncall shifts for highly available services

Who are we looking for?
For this role we are looking for a service and customer oriented candidate with great communication skills and confident appearance in complex situations. You should also be interested and able to work in an international environment.

You have an academic degree or a comparable training with several years of experience
Good practical experience in administration (Linux (Red Hat, Debian) but also Windows Servers) and in IT infrastructure
Experience in administration and configuration of web and application servers (e.g. Apache Tomcat, IIS, Reverse Proxy)
Experience in scripting and web technologies (PHP, Pearl, Bash)
Web security know-how
Basic knowledge in the area of (distributed) IT infrastructure (e.g. DNS, IP-networks, routing, firewall, database, active directory, storage, network, IT security)
Preferred: Cloud / Azure experience
Good at solving problems, self-steering, ready to take over responsibility, structural way of working
Fluent English in talking and writing and – if applying for Germany – solid German
