Hydropower planner

Vattenfall SAS France is looking for a Hydropower planner. This position reports to the President of Vattenfall SAS France and the Hydropower Technical Director of Vattenfall SAS France.

Job description:

Vattenfall SAS France, in partnership with three large French consumers, will bid to the call for tender of the French government for the renewal of the hydropower concessions with the ambition to gain up to 2000MW in hydropower capacity (Neptune Project). Vattenfall France is carrying out technical, environmental, legal and financial analyses to appraise the opportunities and develop projects to submit to the French government. A project team has been established in Paris with capabilities in project management. It hires the services of the in house engineering resources (Sweden and Germany) and external consulting companies; this internal and external support has little command of the French language.

We are now looking for a French speaking hydropower planner to support the elaboration of the bids to the French government.

As a Hydropower planner you will analyse the documents of the French administrations and the French written documentation, carry out specific studies and supervise the works of the consultants.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist the Project directors and the Technical director in certain general tasks (data collection, analysis of documentations, specific studies, etc.).
Lead technical studies for the selected concessions. This will consist in supervising external consultants and also in producing yourself part of the studies.
Be a pro-active proposition source for conception and development of solutions both for existing installations and greenfield projects.

Your Profile
Minimum 5 years of experience in hydropower engineering with a consulting engineer company or a power utility
Fluent in French and English languages
Technical competencies: general layout and dimensioning of hydropower schemes, hydropower inventories, feasibility studies, generation estimation, investment estimation, etc
Project management competencies: external consultant’s management
Strong team approach
International mindset
Some knowledge in environmental and regulatory aspects will be appreciated:

Environment & social impact studies, hydrology
Regulatory competencies: water law and regulation
The position is based: Location: Paris, France. Travelling required
