A. Knowledge and Understanding of Design Principles
(Specialist Discipline Skills Required for Contract Role)
• Able to work unsupervised on structural modifications to existing equipment or purchasing new equipment including but not limited to:
- Fabrication and constructability techniques
- Lifting aid design, installation techniques and LOLER lift plans
- Application of structural CAD packages
- Subsea
- Other associated modifications within the Oil and Gas industry.
B. Practical Application of Design Skills to Solve Engineering Problems:
• Assist with resolving technical queries and ensure the resolution is satisfactory and ensure that all design changes are captured by the change control process
• To be able to conduct site surveys
• To be able to produce Design deliverables required for the role and participate in design reviews and check and approve discipline documents also to check interdisciplinary documents where necessary
• Producing documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpacks, and or, design books on time to meet project deadlines for assigned packages and scopes of work.
C. Technical and Commercial Leadership
• Supervision of other discipline designers within the scope of work, work is broadly determined by the Lead or Principal Engineer where informed guidance is available; to be able to demonstrate competence in the role.
• Responsible for delivery as part of the project team for achieving the target and completion of design documentation within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with Asset priorities and schedules as set out in the project plan.
• Preparation of design scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
• Identification of increase or reduction in scope and assist in raising the necessary support documents for Project Control Purposes
D. Interpersonal Skills
• Liaise with other disciplines in the execution of the work.
• Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations
• Computer literate in Microsoft packages and required software packages for role.
• Proficient in PDMS Structural Design
• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work as a team member and communicate effectively with onshore and offshore personnel at all levels.
E. Professionalism
• Comply with relevant codes of conduct
• Provide Discipline Design Support to satisfy the appropriate Asset Safety Case and that the PFEER performance standards are not compromised by any Discipline Engineering Activities.
• Conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
• Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards.
• Compliance with the Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
• Operate and act responsibly, taking into account of the need to progress environmental, social and economic outcomes simultaneously
• Be responsible for continuing professional development necessary to maintain and enhance competence in own area of practice.
F. Qualifications and Experience:
Highest Qualifications / Lowest Experience
• HND or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a good working knowledge in their respective discipline. Some experience should be in a relevant theatre of operation.
Lowest Qualifications / Highest Experience
• Holds an ONC or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a strong working knowledge in their respective discipline. Some experience should be in a relevant theatre of operation.
